So catching you guys up with what I've done over the last couple of weeks and been trying to find time/energy to put it all together to show off. Writing this blog also help me remember how I painted things when I come back later to finish models. Ok enough chat lets get to what I did after the jump<br />
<br />
<br />
<a name='more'></a><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-rk7e7ruHRss/VkD1EYvCtlI/AAAAAAAAKoo/vb3s-67HTtQ/s1600/20151011_115424.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-rk7e7ruHRss/VkD1EYvCtlI/AAAAAAAAKoo/vb3s-67HTtQ/s320/20151011_115424.jpg" width="192" /></a><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-eE_GKjMZsWc/VkD1XKIqiPI/AAAAAAAAKow/KiFjtnHjVtE/s1600/20151011_121252.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-eE_GKjMZsWc/VkD1XKIqiPI/AAAAAAAAKow/KiFjtnHjVtE/s320/20151011_121252.jpg" width="192" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I based the Gems Screamer Pink and once that had dried I painted 4/5s of the Gems Khorne Red and making the edge between the two colours a bulging curve. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-BeTnHr4pB4M/VkD1XFNojXI/AAAAAAAAKow/-zKNd9J0ho8/s1600/20151011_121949.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-BeTnHr4pB4M/VkD1XFNojXI/AAAAAAAAKow/-zKNd9J0ho8/s320/20151011_121949.jpg" width="192" /></a><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-AKHOBo9a170/VkD1XP_KdUI/AAAAAAAAKow/kuTHmeBNoZ0/s1600/20151011_123222.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-AKHOBo9a170/VkD1XP_KdUI/AAAAAAAAKow/kuTHmeBNoZ0/s320/20151011_123222.jpg" width="192" /></a></div>
The next step was Wazdakk over 3/5s of the Gem and then I did a mixed colour of Wazdaka and the old Blood Red (Evil sunz Scarlet) on the bottom 2/5s of the Gem.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-PkBFx_TaLvE/VkD1XBt36NI/AAAAAAAAKow/W-y2kVQH1zM/s1600/20151011_124843.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-PkBFx_TaLvE/VkD1XBt36NI/AAAAAAAAKow/W-y2kVQH1zM/s320/20151011_124843.jpg" width="192" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
For the Last edge I pained little lines all emanating from the lightest end of the gem with Blood Red ( Evil Sunz Scarlet). The end result was a fan like shape with spikey edges into the darker colours. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-VGrUF2T-JoA/VkGZk5FOmHI/AAAAAAAAKy8/LBworeodIBw/s1600/20151109_213647.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-VGrUF2T-JoA/VkGZk5FOmHI/AAAAAAAAKy8/LBworeodIBw/s320/20151109_213647.jpg" width="192" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The last three steps were placing an extended oval near the edge of the Darkest colour (The direction the light is coming from) and once that is dry placing a small white dot onto it. The Final step is to paint the entire Gem with a Gloss varnish. </div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Hey guys looking for some advice on a colour scheme/ techniques to use for my Warp Spiders. I've been unable to decide what to do with them and I've found the models to be a little finicky.<br />
<br />
So how have you guys painted you Spiders?<br />

Hey all just popping it to show how some of my progress I have made to the list of WIP. This last week I've managed to finish the Hawks and that one Dire Avenger so I can field a unit of 10 without an Exarch.<br />
<br />
<div>
<strike>1x Dire Avenger</strike><br />
5x Wraith guard (scythe)</div>
<div>
4x Swooping hawks<br />
<strike>6x Swooping Hawks</strike><br />
5x Dire Avenger<br />
1x Dark Reaper Exarch with EML<br />
1x Spiritseer (conversion)<br />
<br />
I've got a tournament coming up in September (Preferred Enemies<span style="background-color: white; color: #222222; font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 18px;">) </span>with a few custom mission and it even has a side board. It is 1000pts made up of a 750pt core + (2x 250pt).<br />
<br />
I'll keep you informed closer to the date on the missions and on my list.<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
So I started working on painting my Swooping hawks I've always wanted to have the wings rainbow kind of like the above pic from coolminiornot. I ended up just gluing the wings on as all my drill bits couldn't seem to drill into the model very well and magnets weren't strong enough when they were small enough to be hidden.</div>

I have Howling Banshees coming out my ears from all my second hand bulk purchases, so I used one of them as a test for the body colour. I was going for a bone, kinda angelic colour.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
One of my friends recommended starting with Dark grey then a lighter grey followed by Bleached bone(Ushabti Bone). I then tried Seraphim sepia over all the bone, then applied bleached bone onto the Armour plates and some more Seraphim sepia onto the model to give the under lying layer a darker colour. I then applied a bit of sharp edge hi-lighting and painted the helmet with Ceramite white leaving the visor dark. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-nSTITNFWLik/U9Ybgtf3VkI/AAAAAAAAFAM/0WP9Dm82cWA/s1600/IMG-20140725-WA0008" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-nSTITNFWLik/U9Ybgtf3VkI/AAAAAAAAFAM/0WP9Dm82cWA/s1600/IMG-20140725-WA0008" height="320" width="240" /></a><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-a-f9mKob-zg/U9YbU-UTmeI/AAAAAAAAFAE/8VivgRiTnXw/s1600/IMG-20140725-WA0006" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-a-f9mKob-zg/U9YbU-UTmeI/AAAAAAAAFAE/8VivgRiTnXw/s1600/IMG-20140725-WA0006" height="320" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
I then started on the wings by painting the feathers black then I lined up all the colours I wanted to use. With the 9 colours all lined up I started doing ether one or two feathers each colour starting with Kantor blue at the bottom and ending with screamer Purple at the top.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-5ngXzMeJTr4/U9Yb3DljkGI/AAAAAAAAFAc/_3CGaYM_vGA/s1600/IMG-20140726-WA0005" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-5ngXzMeJTr4/U9Yb3DljkGI/AAAAAAAAFAc/_3CGaYM_vGA/s1600/IMG-20140726-WA0005" height="320" width="240" /></a></div>
The gun didn't quite seem separate so I painted it Abaddon black then applied a slight gray drybrush.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-IXh78wE4VVM/U9YOgVk9I5I/AAAAAAAAE_c/AFfV3k8hs_c/s1600/20140726_222933.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-IXh78wE4VVM/U9YOgVk9I5I/AAAAAAAAE_c/AFfV3k8hs_c/s1600/20140726_222933.jpg" height="320" width="240" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
To finish off the wings I applied Drakenhof Nightshade to bind the wings a bit and then I just finished off the base with a dry brush of codex grey and then painted the base tiles White and Red. I used Khorne red as a base and blood red as the hi-light and for the white I used space wolves grey(Administratum Grey) as a base for the white.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
So far I've only got one hawk complete and the other 5 at the Ushabti Bone/Seraphim wash stage. I'm still working on saving steps as I think I can get the same look if I change the order of the final hilighting. As in whether to apply the Serephim sepia twice or to do it once and then edge hi-light and then apply it again after. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I can see I might in future have some problems with how fragile these models are. I dropped one while building them and the base broke off at the bottom of the feet. I am going to have to treat these models extremely gently.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
What do you guys think? And how are your painting challenges going?</div>

<br /></div>
<div>
Hey all I've been a bit slack with the Painting progress posts but I'll try catch you guys up.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
At the end of May I had the following to be done.</div>
1x Wraith knight<br />
1x Dire Avenger<br />
5x Wraith guard (scythe)<br />
<br />
<div>
I managed to get the Wraith knight done to a table top quality. I'm quiet proud of how it ended up. With the Wraith knight being my first huge and expensive kit I didn't want to make any mistakes that couldn't be undone so I took my time doing the magnets and positioning it.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
With July mostly done I'll just add to the list some things I've started.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<strike>1x Wraith knight</strike></div>
<div>
1x Dire Avenger<br />
5x Wraith guard (scythe)</div>
<div>
10x Swooping hawks</div>
<div>
<a name='more'></a><br /></div>
<div>
I've so far finished there bases and just need to move onto the base coat and then painting.</div>
<div>
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-o65cG0QXMRE/U84KA2Csj0I/AAAAAAAAE4w/4FwVk24V-20/s1600/20140721_191241.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-o65cG0QXMRE/U84KA2Csj0I/AAAAAAAAE4w/4FwVk24V-20/s1600/20140721_191241.jpg" height="150" width="200" /></a><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-Ejf80UqHKE0/U84KftpryII/AAAAAAAAE5A/SmcN-P92Hgg/s1600/20140721_204251.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-Ejf80UqHKE0/U84KftpryII/AAAAAAAAE5A/SmcN-P92Hgg/s1600/20140721_204251.jpg" height="150" width="200" /></a></div>
I'm using the older metal Swooping hawks I found for cheap I started by gluing them to the base and then Took the thin card from a cereal box (I used Pronutro). I cut a strip of card about 5mm and then sliced that into little squares. I got the technique from the <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6I74AMOs7yw&list=UUDNHPNeWScAC8h8IxtEBtkQ">EonsOfBattle</a><br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-XaJtmkoySmM/U84KA3H2QaI/AAAAAAAAE4w/yIjnl6f60MQ/s1600/20140721_204244.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-XaJtmkoySmM/U84KA3H2QaI/AAAAAAAAE4w/yIjnl6f60MQ/s1600/20140721_204244.jpg" height="150" width="200" /></a><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-bCKgy6jHUKw/U84KA1jRU-I/AAAAAAAAE4w/gePCA6pwj8s/s1600/20140721_204224.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-bCKgy6jHUKw/U84KA1jRU-I/AAAAAAAAE4w/gePCA6pwj8s/s1600/20140721_204224.jpg" height="150" width="200" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
I used super glue to attach the squares on the base and my craft knife to position the squares accurately. With the these being slot bases I used the squares to hide the gap and only partially covered the base to do a sort of transition from the gravel look of the rest of my army to the tile look. I tried to vary the look a little with some tiles overlapping or having wider spacing.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-BEBBLmDVUls/U84KAzwOivI/AAAAAAAAE4w/ixMkcenoLZA/s1600/20140721_204810.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-BEBBLmDVUls/U84KAzwOivI/AAAAAAAAE4w/ixMkcenoLZA/s1600/20140721_204810.jpg" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-48034Bt4_gU/U84KA_z40oI/AAAAAAAAE4w/X5gmncjQB1U/s1600/20140721_212239.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-48034Bt4_gU/U84KA_z40oI/AAAAAAAAE4w/X5gmncjQB1U/s1600/20140721_212239.jpg" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
To finish off I used super glue again on the clear base and on some of the tiles and applied a medium grain sand followed by a finer sand to give it a bit of a run down look.<br />
<br />
Next up I will do the base coat. I'm still undecided on whether to glue the wings on before or after painting.<br />
Do you guys have any suggestions or experience with this.<br />

So after painting my canal I decided that my board was a bit too much brighter then my other terrain.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
After posting on <a href="http://www.terragenesis.co.uk/">terragenesis</a> I was given some advice of using watered down black to make it darker.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
So here are some pics of my progress this weekend.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The wash I made in a ratio of 5-1 water to paint.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-ceps0l0pcxk/U80KfR5YLGI/AAAAAAAAE2U/eJkksmVmx5A/s1600/20140719_161837.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-ceps0l0pcxk/U80KfR5YLGI/AAAAAAAAE2U/eJkksmVmx5A/s1600/20140719_161837.jpg" height="320" width="240" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">The first corner</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<br />
<a name='more'></a><br /><br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-i8reIpqqDyY/U80KfQdIsaI/AAAAAAAAE2U/ZKFbTNCauKk/s1600/20140720_104544.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-i8reIpqqDyY/U80KfQdIsaI/AAAAAAAAE2U/ZKFbTNCauKk/s1600/20140720_104544.jpg" height="320" width="240" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">After the first wash</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-dVehoaIyGCA/U80KfQUUxrI/AAAAAAAAE2U/_c_yb05H3gs/s1600/20140719_224050.jpg" imageanchor="1"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-dVehoaIyGCA/U80KfQUUxrI/AAAAAAAAE2U/_c_yb05H3gs/s1600/20140719_224050.jpg" height="320" width="240" /></a><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-OeYMXennZVQ/U80KfZ9pHZI/AAAAAAAAE2U/2t94Z301lQg/s1600/20140720_145614.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-OeYMXennZVQ/U80KfZ9pHZI/AAAAAAAAE2U/2t94Z301lQg/s1600/20140720_145614.jpg" height="320" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
The camera doesn't really show the colour accurately I was undecided on whether to do a third coat. I decided to leave it at two as it seemed close enough to the other pieces and I didn't want to go too dark.<br />

There are still some details I could go back and finish on the tanks but I think they look good enough for normal games.<br />

I had a couple shadow weaver guns left over from some second hand purchases so I did a little customizing to make my D-Cannons. I cut off the fins to get a different look and then painted them to look as if they are channeling the energy to the tip of the gun before firing.</div>

Since the polystyrene was covered in a layer of sand and PVA glue it was easy to spray paint the canal with out worrying about the spray eating the polystyrene. I sprayed it then realized I had forgotten to add the meshed pipes. I then decided it needed a bit more detail. the smaller blue pipes were made from cutting the bottom off a permanent marker lid. I then cut that circle in half to get the look of a drain pipe half submerged.<br />

Gosh sorry guys that its been awhile since I posted. I'm not dead here is my progress I've made with the Knight. Hope you enjoy.<br />

<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />
Everything put together (above left). I painted the plasticard white as a first stage of the wraith bone look.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Then applied a watered down bleached bone to give it a bit more boney.</div>
<br />

<br />
I did the same technique that I did on my waveserpents using the above colours in order from left to right. Starting with a base of Kantor then dabbing the model and over brushing the edges with Macrags blue and then lightly with Teclis blue. I Finished it off with a coat of Gulliman Glaze, Which at first went well but as I got to the end of the bottle started to become more and more Matt. As you can see from top half of the model has a nice sheen to it but as I did the legs it just became meh so I restarted the legs and am now in need of new gulliman glaze.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
The final look excluding the legs and the base. I'm still needing to do final details but its at least table ready now. A thing I've noticed tho is that the paint chips/peals very easily or at least way more then I've had it happen in the past. I've bought some Tamiya Clearcoat to try and seal and stop the wear, And hopefully keep the shine(from the tests it does).</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
We played the 3 tactical card mission what ever its called that is played with the hammer and anvil deployment.</div>

The games result was pretty much down to luck with me getting the tactical cards to capture things I was already holding or having the ability through Scriers to discard and redraw the ones I couldn't get easily. While my opponent kept getting the really difficult or impossible ones e.g.cast a psychic power or capture my deployment zone.<br />

This was my Wraith knights first taste of battle and I think he did well gaining me 3 vp and first blood and then tanking the entire enemies army before dying.<br />

Just a quick update on my Knight I managed to get the bits based with imperial Primer. One thing I noticed was that the paint seemed to chip/rub off very easily. So I think I will need to seal the model once I have finished painting it.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-ps0ovG4A31E/U6AELz5ynMI/AAAAAAAAD5U/2hIzXy39Xlc/s1600/20140615_211134.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-ps0ovG4A31E/U6AELz5ynMI/AAAAAAAAD5U/2hIzXy39Xlc/s1600/20140615_211134.jpg" height="150" width="200" /></a><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-YQbsWltfG54/U6AELwf2m_I/AAAAAAAAD5U/Qyh7t-3a8kc/s1600/20140615_211148.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-YQbsWltfG54/U6AELwf2m_I/AAAAAAAAD5U/Qyh7t-3a8kc/s1600/20140615_211148.jpg" height="150" width="200" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<a name='more'></a><br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Saf0vOcNcyA/U6AEL06y-1I/AAAAAAAAD5U/cQgw0ZErJbQ/s1600/20140615_232529.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Saf0vOcNcyA/U6AEL06y-1I/AAAAAAAAD5U/cQgw0ZErJbQ/s1600/20140615_232529.jpg" height="240" width="320" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">My first design</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I cut plasticard to the shape of the oval base to make the base look like it was made of wraith bone. The plastic card is difficult to cut so I tried to keep the lines straight to make a sort of puzzle look but then I decided to make a transition between the wraithbone and the city street theme so cut the card in half.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-fag63L_b1EY/U6AEL2p0V0I/AAAAAAAAD5U/yH1HHiF-mfI/s1600/20140616_202419.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-fag63L_b1EY/U6AEL2p0V0I/AAAAAAAAD5U/yH1HHiF-mfI/s1600/20140616_202419.jpg" height="150" width="200" /></a><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-i58KZ0YW6RM/U6AEL9jTJ7I/AAAAAAAAD5U/fVGx-cTgQC4/s1600/20140616_202436.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-i58KZ0YW6RM/U6AEL9jTJ7I/AAAAAAAAD5U/fVGx-cTgQC4/s1600/20140616_202436.jpg" height="150" width="200" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<div style="text-align: left;">
I then decided to do a split of half half as sort of a wraith bone tile that he will be standing on. I also thought it would be cool to have a wound tracker on the base. So I drilled a hole and placed a 3x1mm magnet in the base. The statue is from the Dire Avenger sprue and the circle is a Night goblin shield. I glued them together with the shields wooden side facing down. I then drilled a hole and placed another 3x1mm magnet in the center of the shield.</div>
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-zy3P0SOud1Y/U6AELx6odWI/AAAAAAAAD5U/JBRYR_sbcM8/s1600/20140616_203433.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-zy3P0SOud1Y/U6AELx6odWI/AAAAAAAAD5U/JBRYR_sbcM8/s1600/20140616_203433.jpg" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I used the bevel tool on my Dremel like device to cut grooves into the base. I might have not made them deep enough tho.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

The little white circles are BB bullets cut in half and then glued down onto the base. 1 for each of the 6 wounds as when it gets to 0 you would remove it off the table </div>

So I continued work on my Wraith knight. I wasn't wanting to rush into gluing it together so I first used masking tape to see how it looked and to make sure I knew where each piece would go, then I got over waiting and gave up the idea of doing some fancy pose for the legs as I would need to do cutting that I couldn't undo. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-8tdRhFN938w/UzlG8xDdE5I/AAAAAAAADSo/22KrWbiZYW0/s1600/20140330_130246.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-8tdRhFN938w/UzlG8xDdE5I/AAAAAAAADSo/22KrWbiZYW0/s1600/20140330_130246.jpg" height="150" width="200" /></a><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-YChkyDf_Mts/UzlG8wLtz8I/AAAAAAAADSo/un1Ry5lNI0g/s1600/20140330_130257.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-YChkyDf_Mts/UzlG8wLtz8I/AAAAAAAADSo/un1Ry5lNI0g/s1600/20140330_130257.jpg" height="150" width="200" /></a></div>

<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Bu5QE8i0Q_4/UzlG81MWnKI/AAAAAAAADSo/XLpA1XUcmvQ/s1600/20140330_130617.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Bu5QE8i0Q_4/UzlG81MWnKI/AAAAAAAADSo/XLpA1XUcmvQ/s1600/20140330_130617.jpg" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I then started gluing the leg pieces together and straight away went awry by gluing the outer thighs onto the wrong sides *Face palm* all that planning and to still make a mistake in my defense the only difference in looks is the spirit stones are reversed on each side (E.g. o0 instead of 0o) I luckily could get the two bits apart as the glue wasn't too heavily applied. With the way it was the knights legs were spread very far apart, Comically so.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-lGqSu4IiDzU/U5V14PlvaQI/AAAAAAAAD0c/XsCMjx5cj60/s1600/20140524_001250.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-lGqSu4IiDzU/U5V14PlvaQI/AAAAAAAAD0c/XsCMjx5cj60/s1600/20140524_001250.jpg" height="200" width="150" /></a><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-z9nDVoNupCY/U5V14MJy_aI/AAAAAAAAD0c/ysUmFs9TS38/s1600/20140530_181909.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-z9nDVoNupCY/U5V14MJy_aI/AAAAAAAAD0c/ysUmFs9TS38/s1600/20140530_181909.jpg" height="150" width="200" /></a></div>
Some shot to show the size of this model after I glued the lower portion together... HUGE!!! <br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-PafMU17eLjo/U5V14GKxhLI/AAAAAAAAD0c/toZPGEzpZFE/s1600/20140531_182417.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-PafMU17eLjo/U5V14GKxhLI/AAAAAAAAD0c/toZPGEzpZFE/s1600/20140531_182417.jpg" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I laid all the bits out to see what needed to be Magnetized. A quick shout out to <a href="http://www.idicbeer.co.uk/">Idicbeer</a> for his post on magnetizing a wraith knight, it helped me out a lot. So if your planning on getting one of these and magnetizing it Definitely go there.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-fJ0VIFQpYLg/U5V14LB9KvI/AAAAAAAAD0c/lJS08ra7CQY/s1600/20140606_175712.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-fJ0VIFQpYLg/U5V14LB9KvI/AAAAAAAAD0c/lJS08ra7CQY/s1600/20140606_175712.jpg" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
So I glued 5x1mm magnets into the arm sockets and I thought maybe a 5x5mm magnet would be strong enough to stop the dip in the arms, I was wrong. I had to do some cutting on the body side of the arm socket to get it to fit managed to get it in. when I attached the arms the weight was too much and the guns/sword ended up pointing down. I drilled a whole next to the Big magnet on the arm socket and placed a handy dandy paper clip in for the pin. And then drilled holes about 1.5mm into the arms at the 3-9 clock angles. To allow for different arm positions.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

As I have said before I'm going to try be more consistant with my posts in the future, even with life getting in the way.Leyzerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14472037271080203423noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2244052766780407060.post-82493996716439951452014-06-02T17:37:00.001+02:002014-06-02T17:37:42.782+02:00May Painting Challenge<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
I might not have gotten my painting challenge done completely but I did complete my Guardians and the Striking scorpions. I've managed to make some progress with my Knight .<br />
<br />
<br />
<a name='more'></a><br /></div>
May Challenge<br />
1x Wraith knight<br />
<strike>8x Guardians</strike><br />
1x Dire Avenger<br />
5x Wraith guard (scythe)<br />
<strike>5x Striking scorpions</strike><br />
<br />
Wraith knight:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-UQ5D9Fdfda4/U4yWYfzR7iI/AAAAAAAADxk/dCKxiUloXPw/s1600/20140530_181904.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-UQ5D9Fdfda4/U4yWYfzR7iI/AAAAAAAADxk/dCKxiUloXPw/s1600/20140530_181904.jpg" height="150" width="200" /></a><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-ix8cezYezQM/U4yWYXsk2eI/AAAAAAAADxk/_VfB8aFzbPU/s1600/20140531_182417.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-ix8cezYezQM/U4yWYXsk2eI/AAAAAAAADxk/_VfB8aFzbPU/s1600/20140531_182417.jpg" height="150" width="200" /></a></div>
<br />
Scorpions:<br />
So I started with a black base coat then after wards decided to put a layer of "Warboss green" over the entire model. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-dCQO-Xogo8s/U4hJEAjMbKI/AAAAAAAADuY/BdqY-JGXFFE/s1600/20140526_182042.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-dCQO-Xogo8s/U4hJEAjMbKI/AAAAAAAADuY/BdqY-JGXFFE/s1600/20140526_182042.jpg" height="150" width="200" /></a><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-ObnY7mf6I-I/U4hJEMl29mI/AAAAAAAADuY/YFmndc532JY/s1600/20140528_214911.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-ObnY7mf6I-I/U4hJEMl29mI/AAAAAAAADuY/YFmndc532JY/s1600/20140528_214911.jpg" height="150" width="200" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
I then painted the armour plates with "Moot green" I then covered the model in "Biel-tan green ink". I then hi-lighted the edges with "moot green".<br />
With the green ink it left the model a bit shiny so I decided to dry brush "Warboss green" over the model to reduce the shine. I then put "Ceramite white" on certain parts then covered it in "Averland sunrise" yellow to make the yellow brighter.<br />
<br />

I just have a few more bits to paint for the scorpions but they are table ready. Ready for the upcoming kill team tournament. <br />

<br />
Just a shout out to <a href="http://skulkers-surprise.blogspot.com/">skulkers-surprise</a>. I had shown these when I had first made them but since Malduran was wanting to correct the base size on his Wraith Guard on his latest painting challenge.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-L2fRF7lcH6w/U3MXMBYvs2I/AAAAAAAADns/smiA93io58E/s1600/20140513_205040.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-L2fRF7lcH6w/U3MXMBYvs2I/AAAAAAAADns/smiA93io58E/s1600/20140513_205040.jpg" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<a name='more'></a><br /><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
So I thought I'd share what I did for my guard, Its not much but I think it does look effective. Small base stuck onto a 40mm base and covered in gravel/Sand. The new models are taller then the older ones so the added height of the base brings them closer to equal.</div>

<br />
So I started work on the Shadewraith from the Dreadfleet game last week. It wasn't as hard as I first thought it would be. I had a look online for a bit of inspiration of how to paint the ship, I came across taleofpainters blog posts about Dreadfleet and really liked the look he went for.<br />
<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I started with a white base coat then a watered down codex gray coat once the base had dried.</div>
<br />

<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-I4aq6pUnkKI/U04ryTAb8PI/AAAAAAAADfU/UdB2CtivTi8/s1600/20140415_203324.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-I4aq6pUnkKI/U04ryTAb8PI/AAAAAAAADfU/UdB2CtivTi8/s1600/20140415_203324.jpg" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I basecoated the base black in preparation for doing the water quite dark. My next step was to paint it kantor blue followed by dry brushing it proggressivly lighter shades of blue (Macragge Blue then teclis blue).</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-bbJOXqaDgO8/U19j1d8RX2I/AAAAAAAADiU/0uZ3Jd1xEQs/s1600/20140425_184733.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-bbJOXqaDgO8/U19j1d8RX2I/AAAAAAAADiU/0uZ3Jd1xEQs/s1600/20140425_184733.jpg" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
I then brushed on Biel-tan Green shade it ran into the details and gave the model a nice ghostly green colour.<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Hey guys sorry I havn't posted in a while just kinda lost the energy and got distracted, but once again i'll try keep things coming for my trusty followers. I've been busy painting stuff so then next couple posts will be a catch up of the last couple of weeks.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I was wanting to put a troll in my Mordheim warband so wanted to get him painted but I didn't have a GW 40mm square base so I left him for a while but the need to paint him became too strong. I decided to make one from scratch using plasticard and ice cream sticks.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<a name='more'></a><br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-xhdQYY4yEfY/U0uj-vtgNmI/AAAAAAAADeQ/HQVveU2u60Q/s1600/20140403_223936.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-xhdQYY4yEfY/U0uj-vtgNmI/AAAAAAAADeQ/HQVveU2u60Q/s1600/20140403_223936.jpg" height="240" width="320" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Showing the difference in size of bases 40mm troll vs 20mm Goblins. </td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-IMB5TtBMBOk/U0uj-tXLOTI/AAAAAAAADeQ/RryproDnCto/s1600/20140404_215915.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-IMB5TtBMBOk/U0uj-tXLOTI/AAAAAAAADeQ/RryproDnCto/s1600/20140404_215915.jpg" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I did some customizing on the base adding some warpstone (wrydstone same diff) and gravel as well as cutting into the wood to look like impact craters.</div>
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-jWr2rKhby0E/U0uj-s80_OI/AAAAAAAADeQ/zAvDkvywhWw/s1600/20140404_221804.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-jWr2rKhby0E/U0uj-s80_OI/AAAAAAAADeQ/zAvDkvywhWw/s1600/20140404_221804.jpg" height="240" width="320" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">The difference in height between all my models.</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-pCDBmvvnkPo/U0uj-i1LnVI/AAAAAAAADeQ/0zs0O6BU56c/s1600/20140408_075754.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-pCDBmvvnkPo/U0uj-i1LnVI/AAAAAAAADeQ/0zs0O6BU56c/s1600/20140408_075754.jpg" height="150" width="200" /></a><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-6V-wwUhXM0c/U0uj-r37xPI/AAAAAAAADeQ/a2D-17AOKWw/s1600/20140408_075807.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-6V-wwUhXM0c/U0uj-r37xPI/AAAAAAAADeQ/a2D-17AOKWw/s1600/20140408_075807.jpg" height="150" width="200" /></a></div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<div style="text-align: left;">
Even tho the model is a stone troll I decided to go with a greeny colour to fit closer with the dingy nature of mordheim I also wanted to make him have a couple warpstone scales. The base I wanted to look kind of like wooden floor planks so I painted them a dark brown( bestial I think).</div>
</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Iyi436DfbcM/U0uj-ur-WHI/AAAAAAAADeQ/KHfZKSACwvg/s1600/20140408_205105.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Iyi436DfbcM/U0uj-ur-WHI/AAAAAAAADeQ/KHfZKSACwvg/s1600/20140408_205105.jpg" height="200" width="150" /></a><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-znKm-cdSWdY/U0uj-vcgIBI/AAAAAAAADeQ/mUXarXjqu-c/s1600/20140408_205119.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-znKm-cdSWdY/U0uj-vcgIBI/AAAAAAAADeQ/mUXarXjqu-c/s1600/20140408_205119.jpg" height="200" width="150" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I'm not finished yet still need to add more detail to the small green stones on his back to make it look more like warpstone and to add some highlighting and some final details. </div>

Hey all sorry I've haven't posted much, been busy with life and such. So back to the point. The 5th of April was Tabletop Day so my local shop <a href="http://www.theunseenshoppe.co.za/" target="_blank">The Unseen Shoppe </a> held one of the events. There was quite a good turn out and a bunch of games being played.</div>

The Few games I got to play were Small World, <span style="background-color: white; font-family: 'Helvetica Neue', Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 21px;">Betrayal</span> at House on the hill, Zombie Dice, Tsuro, and X-wing. Lots of Fun was had by all. </div>

I'm wanting to try to get a bit more regular with my content but also don't want to just spam out stuff.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
But that will have to start after this weekend as I'm away for Easter.</div>
